Komainu Training & Defense
Classes, coaches and a clear way to book a first visit to a local dojo.

Before

The challenge
A first-year Christian BJJ dojo needed a site that could go out today — shareable as one link, readable by a parent deciding on kids’ classes and by a prospective member sizing up the coaches — before komainutd.com itself was ready to launch.
The approach
- 01
A single self-contained HTML build — every font, image and video inlined — so the whole site travels as one link and loads instantly on a phone outside the gym.
- 02
The komainu itself became the design system: stone guardian lion-dogs, an 阿吽 (a-un) motif for the first breath and the last, carried through the palette, the watermark and the copy.
- 03
Programs, coaches and the full week’s class schedule pulled to the surface, so a parent or a first-timer can find their exact class time without a phone call.
- 04
Faith kept in the build rather than bolted on after — the Wednesday Bible study slot on the schedule, the chi-rho mark, the coaches’ own words about why they teach.
Komainu stand in pairs at a temple gate, one mouth open and one closed — the first sound and the last. The site is built the same way: dark and quiet at the threshold, plain and warm once you’re inside.

Mobile Experience

The result
Live under the dojo’s own name — four pages a coach can hand to a prospective member on one link.
